Creator/Contributor:
Graves, S. H., creator, author.
Abstract:
Mimeograph typescript of the text of the book published in Chicago, Illinois by The Lakeside Press, 1908. The book is largely
a memoir of the first company president containing anecdotes and observations of the day to day operations of building and
operating a railroad in difficult conditions over the period of its first ten years that was spurred on by a gold rush in
the Klondike River Valley. Also includes a photocopy of a typescript letter, dated January 2, 1959, by an unknown author in
Seattle, Washington to Ellis J. McClanahan in Hillsborough, California in which the author notes that the typescript he is
sending along was created about 25 years prior to the date of the letter. The two correspondents appear to have been co-workers
at some point in the past at the White Pass and Yukon Route railroad
